The water of Waipao is sacred. It is healing water like Vaimä of Mataiea. We drink the water, and bath in it when we need cleaning and healing.
When our elders are near to death, they ask for the water to drink and we know they will die soon after. Soon after the baby is born, we bring the baby to
Waipao to bless in the water, and we also bless the mother.
